Margaret Daly and Anne Mulhern 'The Glasgow Girls' were delighted to be invited to Port Vendres in April 2007 by Robin Crichton to be taken on a tour of the places that Charles Rennie Mackintosh lived and worked as an artist.
Charles and his wife Margaret spent the last four and possibly the happiest years of their lives in this area and a specially developed tour follows in their footsteps so that you too can discover the magic of this "lovely rose coloured land." with dramatic light and varied landscapes and "its warmth and sun."
You too will be guided by Robin Crichton, President of the Association Charles Rennie Mackintosh en Roussillon and author of "Monsieur Mackintosh" (available to buy online in our books section). The choice of quality hotels and restaurants has been arranged by the Comité Départmental du Tourisme. An air-conditioned coach and driver will remain with the group for the duration of the visit.
Anne and Margaret fell in love with the area and our guide helped to bring alive the atmosphere of a period when Mackintosh was working as an artist. CRM's paintings are a fantastic visual diary of his travels in France and this forms the structure for the study tour.
